Deadly Earnest

Throughout history infants have been named “Ernest” and it’s safe to assume the recipients of said moniker have grown up and found their niche in life the same as the Johns, Bills, and Toms. There’s nothing startling or arresting or even unusual about the name—except to Henry Gilcrest.

It all started when Henry’s boss fired him, his girlfriend flat-out dumped him, and Aunt Ethel ordered him from her house because he hadn’t paid his rent. Well poor, homeless, girl-less, jobless Henry spends the night in the park and meets Mr. Bumpus. He pours out his troubles to Mr. Bumpus, who tells Henry that life has dealt him a miserable blow and he has a friend named Ernest who, for $17.83, gets poor, downtrodden people like Henry out of their distress. So Henry, in his pitiful, forlorn condition, pays the money, goes back home and finds (1) Aunt Ethel is ready to forgive him, (2) his girlfriend wants another chance, (3) his boss has given him a raise, and (4) life has never been better! Except for the fact that everyone Henry encounters from here on out is named Ernest.

SHOWING at 7PM
FRIDAY NOV. 17TH &
SATURDAY NOV. 18TH

Tickets are $4 and may be purchased at the door.

Thanks & Cleaning Up

Thank you everyone, for coming out and supporting the arts. We had a blast and we hope you enjoyed yourselves as well. We look forward to next year and will keep you up to date here once the Fall Play & Spring Musical are chosen.

Also a big thank you goes out to Gabe & Luke for showing up on Monday to help clean the stage & prop room. If you left something at school it's probably on the table or locked in the prop room on top of the couch.

Please collect your items, in one week they will either be assumed to be donated to the Drama Club or thrown away as trash. Items include the following; A rotary phone, several suitcases, 2 mattresses (with sheets), blankets, a bra, pants, a musical t-shirt, a hair brush, tupperware, a camera, shoes, a sweatshirt, Suits, and a box of dresses borrowed for angels in Act II. If you're missing something not listed, chances are that it's on or back stage somewhere.

We're Ready

We had a great dress rehearsal with some laughs and some new brilliant moments. The cast is pumped, the pit is amazing and we actually still like each other. Considering that we've rehearsed for 21 hours this week that alone is an accomplishment. We hope you can come out and enjoy all of our hard work.

Dress Rehearsal

Tonight we will put the finishing touches on the show, we've already rehearsed 16 hours this week, and I am proud of the effort everyone has been showing. The most we can do now is take care of ourselves and do our jobs (on and offstage).

     Good Luck!  - Mr Heidenreich

The Man Behind the Music

Cole Porter (1891 - 1964) Unlike many, as a Broadway composer Porter wrote not only lyrics but music too. Unfortunately in 1937 Porter suffered a severe horseback riding incident, however he continued to work. In 1948 Cole Porter made a comeback with his most well known musical Kiss me, Kate, which won the first Tony Award for best musical. Porter’s other works include Fifty Million Frenchmen, Dubarry was a Lady, and Can-Can. Porter has many hit songs including “Night and Day”, “Well, Did ya Evah!”, and “My Heart Belongs to Daddy”.

The Last Schedule

We are 14 rehearsals away from our performance. It's go time, meaning rehearsals get longer and everyone becomes exceedingly pleasant to work with : )

It is understood the longer schedule will cause some conflicts. Actors are encouraged to communicate when & why they have such conflicts and also to attend partial rehearsals when possible. It is expected that everyone will be present for all rehearsals during the last week (Feb 27th – March 2nd).

Get Better Lord Evelyn : )

We truly hope our good Lord Evelyn recovers quickly.

Or else our Whitney will have to step into his role, and that terrifies him. Get better soon O.H.

Be Careful Out There

I sincerely hope everyone made it home safely last night.
We cancel and dismiss along with sporting events, but as we get on in rehearsals and Winter Sports end, we sometimes are forgotten. So if you feel the weather is getting bad in a hurry, and wish to leave rehearsal early, please let Mr. H know. Without windows in the Auditorium we sometimes get caught off guard. Be Safe.

Filling In

It often occurs that Actors are absent for a variety of reasons. We have a long standing tradition of filling in from the ensemble. To signify such a substitution we replace the first letter of the character's name with an "f". For instance Hope become Fope and Billy becomes Filly.

Actors who reliably fill in for their peers often work their way up to the status of an understudy.

Friday's a bust.

Well between District Chorus, poor attendance (thanks Keystones) and a Major Roles night, we didn't exactly have enough to accomplish much. Should've know better than to schedule a rehearsal for Friday the 13th.
Thanks to all the wierdos who came out and noodled around.

Improversation

I feel like this is a life skill that most Actors naturally have, or in the least, must learn.

Dance, Improve and... Hats?

You never know what we're going to do, while the leads are away at District Chorus.

We used hats this week to bring out character in each of our actors/actresses. Hats also helped brighten the mood and instilled confidence in our participants.

Kid Theater - Maybe we could do it.

I just found this acting game from the tonight show. All we need is a dedicated group of elementary students to write us scenes to act.

Anything Goes Week 1

We are pleased to announce that the first week of musical practice has begun!

This week the cast will be focusing on getting comfortable on stage, getting to know one another, becoming familiar with the plot. Students are also going to use this week to get into their character.
This year the Drama Club has the privilege of performing on a brand new stage.

This musical is under the direction of Chris Heidenreich & Mamie Harling, as well as stage managers Katrina Weber, Josie Rice, and Lauren Hart.
